"Black Pearl"

Luis Carlos Gutierrez is 32 years old, and he cares for his two daughters, together they built their lives between the “El Mirador” farm and the house located in the municipality of Garzon Huila, where he returns each night to enjoy the responsibility of being the father and role model. Although he is not the owner of El Mirador farm, his father assigned the task to develop the full potential of each species such as Colombia, Caturra, Pink bourbon and Castillo.
It is not an extension considered as large, but it is above the national average, since it has 12 hectares in coffee production and 6 in native forest where the village water reservoir starts. His brother is in charge of the traditional processes of “los pergaminos secos” as they are commonly called, that is the teamwork and specialised tasks that each one fulfils. In addition to the family nucleus, there is also an administrator on the farm who coordinates the tasks of a coffee company throughout the year: personnel management, fertilisation, pruning, planting, rattling, weeding, harvesting, processing, drying, and sale of the product. , the latter managed entirely by Luis Carlos’s father, in the local cooperatives. A well-structured work where each one fulfils a supremely important function.
Experimental processing of this vintage with Pink Bourbon allowed them to gain vast insight into the natural process that was developed after several trial and error attempts. Luis Carlos had the opportunity to work as a quality analyst for a coffee company in the region and on his farm he found the best laboratory with the necessary tools to develop a strong but balanced coffee profile with Bourbon noted for its delicate and floral notes.
Although the quantities are still small compared to the total volume of dry coffee production, the results obtained show a promising and more stable horizon in the specialty coffees that are being developed from their farm and that with great motivation hope to continue producing to delight consumers around the world.
Her aunt died of natural causes at the age of 93, who gave her coffee trade in addition to the farm.
